



March 15, 2008 - Springfield College's Steve Headley competed in the second day of the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.
Headley, who has been one of the top sprinters in the country all season, opened up his competition with the prelims in the 55-meter dash on Friday evening. Headley had the second-fastest qualifying time of the day after he crossed the finish line in 6.34 seconds.
In the finals, Headley lined up next to the defending national champion, Eddie Bynum of Salem State, in lane three.
Headley crossed the finish line in fifth place in the finals in a time of 6.36. Bynum went on to claim first place in the race with a blistering time of 6.25, the fastest time in Division III this year.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
