Coburn Named NEWMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

of Springfield College has been named this week's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week. The sophomore center scored 20 points and added 13 rebounds and seven blocks in a 78-61 win over Wheaton last Wednesday night at SC's Blake Arena.
It was Springfield's lone game of the week. Coburn, who hails from West Warwick, R.I., is now averaging 3.4 blocks per game, good for second in the nation among NCAA Division III players.
Springfield is now 7-8 overall, but has won five straight. The Pride is 3-0 in league play, tied with MIT for the NEWMAC lead. Springfield will play at MIT Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 6 pm.
Head Coach Charlie Brock
Charlie Brock in 2013-14 will enter his 16th season as the head coach at Springfield College and his 34th season as a head coach overall. Brock’s achievements as a coach are certainly impressive. He has taken three schools to the NCAA Division III Tournament and has an overall, 32-year record of 440-397. Read more
