



Springfield, Mass. -- March 23, 2010 -- The Springfield College field hockey team has been ranked No. 1 in the nation academically in Division III, according to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association. Springfield College's 3.52 GPA is the best nationally by a significant margin.
The Top Five Division III Team GPAs as listed in this 2009 Gladiator by SGI/ NFHCA Division III National Academic Team ranking were as follows:
1) Springfield College -- 3.52
T2) Richard Stockton College -- 3.47
T2) Swarthmore College -- 3.47
T2) Washington & Lee University -- 3.47
5) Goucher College -- 3.46
After nine years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe has continued the tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 130-68 record, good for a winning percentage of .656 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
