Women's Track and Field Places 15 on NEWMAC All-Academic Team

Ali Dalton Babson Park, Mass. - April 29, 2009 -The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference announced its 2009 Women’s Track & Field Academic All-Conference Team and Springfield College's women's track and field team had 15 student athletes honored.

The Pride had the highest amount of student athletes from any school in the conference as it had 15 on the squad. Kelsey Bishop, Lacey Cartier, Catherine Croce, Allison Dalton, Rachel DiMattia, Amanda DiPaolo, Brittany Guerrera, Nikki Hay, Amanda Mullen, Mary Parshley, Jacquelyn Pires, Maeve Powell, Nicole Reynolds, Tiffany Rozenas, and Danielle Stabinski were all selected for their excellence in the classroom.

Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2008 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Jim Pennington Jim Pennington enters his 30th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2013-2014. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
