



Springfield Mass.-- February 18, 2010 -- Ty Evans, a sophomore, from Springfield College, has been named USAG Collegiate Division National Men's Gymnast of the Week this week for his great performance against Temple University last Saturday, February 13. Evans was so honored, despite his team's losing to the Owls by a score of 333.350 to 326.000.Evans, who hails from San Jose, Calif., dominated by placing in the top three in five different events. The sophomore claimed the all-around title with a score of 84.00. Evans had the top score on the parallel bars with a 14.100. He then tied for first on the high bar after recording a score of 14.200. He also finished second on the floor with a 14.400, and placed third in the vault after scoring a 15.200.
Evans has been one of the Pride's top performers for the past two years. Last year as a freshman, he claimed first place in the vault in the individual portion of the 2009 USAG Championships held at William & Mary College, thus winning a national championship.


Entering his 31st season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East. Posner led the Pride to another successful season in 2012 and was named the EIGL Coach of the Year. Read more.
