Carter and Meagher were extremely instrumental in leading Springfield College to a national team rushing title this past season. SC averaged 400.6 yards rushing per game, leading SC in that category virtually every week throughout the year.
Meagher was named First Team, while Carter was named Second Team all-conference in the rugged Empire 8. Carter also earned SCs Empire 8 Sportsmanship Award, while Meagher was recently named All-New England Division II/III. Meagher was also recently named a CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District player for his 3.76 GPA in his applied exercise science major.
These two will play for the North Squad, which will be attempting to win its third straight in this three-game series. Last season, the Springfield College coaching staff, led by Head Coach Mike DeLong, proved to be the winning coach as the North defeated the South, 26-18. Offensive lineman John Carlson and inside linebacker Ken Goodwin of Springfield College participated for the North in that contest. Carlson had been named a co-captain.
Carter had a tremendous year statistically. In his final game versus Union, Josh rushed for a Springfield College single-game record 299 yards. He also finished with SC career records in Total Offense (5,944 yards), TDs Responsible For (86), and tied a career mark for TD passes (28). He ran for 1,490 yards this season, second most in SC single-season history.
Carter finished the regular season by averaging 149.0 yards rushing per game, 5th best in Division III. He also finished first in the nation in scoring (17.4 points per game), and finished first in "rushing TDs" with 27.
Carter and Meagher will be two of four players from New England to play for the North. The North will be coached this year by Skip Bandini and his staff of Curry College in Massachusetts. The South will be led by Mike Dunleavy and his staff of Averett University in Virginia.
