SPRINGFIELD, Mass., November 8, 2003 – Springfield College junior All-American
Megan Skinner (Acton, Mass.) won the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.74) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:14.44) to lead the SC women’s swimming & diving team to a 171-124 victory over MIT this afternoon at the Linkletter Natatorium.
SC senior
Jessica Defoe (Monson, Mass.) won the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.96) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:01.82). Senior
Marybeth Kuliga (Sanford, Maine) added with wins in the 200-yard butterfly (2:23.01) and 500-yard freestyle (5:23.27).
SC sophomore
Lacey Feduke (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) took first place in the one-meter dive (238.20), while sophomore
Sara Tremblay (Agawam, Mass.) won on the three-meter board (258.22).
On the men’s side, SC junior
Louis Arruda (West Warwick, R.I.) won the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.66) and the 100-yard butterfly (53.78) to lead the Pride to a 155-139 victory over MIT.
SC sophomore All-America
Mike Shaw (Westfield, Mass.) took first place in both the one-meter (284.17) and the three-meter dives (269.48).
With the sweep, the SC women improve to 4-0 on the season, and the men improve to 2-1. Both teams will be at Middlebury on Saturday, November 22, in a 1:00 p.m. meet.

Diving Coach Peter Avdoulos
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 28th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2012-2013. The current NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions.
