Bartol, Metzger Named NEILA And Pilgrim League Men's Lacrosse All-Stars

and junior defenseman Mike Bartol (Saratoga, N.Y.)
were named New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Second-team All Stars and were selected the Pilgrim Lacrosse League-East Division All-Conference Team.
Metzger, who was also named the Pilgrim League-East Division Player of the Year, leads the Pride in all three offensive categories with 59 points, 38 goals and 21 assists. Selected to play in the NEILA East-West All-Star Game on Sunday, May 12, he is 13th on the SC all-time scoring list with 136 points (98 goals, 38 assists). Also a second-team NEILA selection last season, Metzger set a single-season record with 58 goals last season.
Bartol, a team captain, was the Pride's top defenseman this year. He anchored a unit that held its opposition to 12.71 goals per game, including nine games of 10 or fewer points. He finished second on the team with 59 ground balls while chipping in three goals.
Springfield (11-6) finished first in the Pilgrim League-East Division, before falling in the conference championship game to Western New England College, 17-16. The Pride earned the top-seed for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III New England Tournament and will host Wheaton College in the semifinals on Friday (May 10) at 7:00 p.m. on Benedum Field. SC defeated Endicott College, 18-10, in a first-round matchup on Wednesday (May 8).
