



Winneconne, Wisc. -- November 19, 2011 -- Ryan O'Connell of Springfield College placed 88th as an individual today at the NCAA Division III National Championships at the Lake Breeze Golf Club. The nationals were hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.Thus the Springfield College men's cross country season ends.
O'Connell, a native of Middleboro, Mass., ran a time of 25:11.83. He had led SC to a ninth place finish as a team at the New England Regionals at Bowdoin a week earlier.
The team winner at the nationals was North Central (Ill.). Haverford finished second.
There were 279 runners competing as individuals.
Bryan Brown will enter his second season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2012. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, led Springfield to a second-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships a year ago .
