Men's Soccer Holds Off MCLA, 3-2

NORTH ADAMS, Mass., September 21, 2004 -- Springfield College sophomore forward Matt Sullivan (Springfield, Mass.) drilled a game-winning penatly kick 9:24 into the first overtime, as the Pride defeated MCLA, 3-2, in a non-conference men's soccer match this afternoon in North Adams.

Freshman midfielder Joe Irwin put MCLA on the board first with a goal just 11 seconds into the second half. The Pride tied the contest up at the 53:41 mark thanks to a goal from Justin Pepoli (Ashburnham, Mass.) off a feed from Sullivan.

The Trailblazers answered back on an unassisted goal by freshman Kyle Righi, with 15:24 remaining in the game. Freshman midfielder Paul Lepak (Windsor, Conn.) sent the match into overtime with his goal with just 1:30 left on the clock which was assisted by Pepoli.

The Pride returns to action Thursday, September 23, when it travels to take on cross-town rival Western New England.
