SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - February 24, 2008 - The Springfield College women's indoor track and field team had an outstanding showing at the Division III New England Championships over the weekend.
Some 33 teams competed in the event, with 24 teams scoring. The Pride finished in fourth place and was paced by several terrific individual performers.
Steph Colella won the women's indoor pentathlon with a score of 2913 in the meet. Colella was one of two members of the Pride to record a first-place finish in the meet.
Nikki Hay continued to score in a multitude of of events for Springfield. The sophomore won the triple jump with a distance of 36-05.00 and finished second in the long jump with a mark of 17-04.75. Hay also recorded a fourth-place finish in the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.52, while also finishing seventh in the 200-meter dash in 27.06.
Springfield a pair finish in the top three in the high jump as Kayla Robertson and Ashley Palmer tied for second with a jump of 5-02.25. Palmer also finished fifth in the 55-meter with a time of 8.97.
In the weight throw, Kelsey Bishop finished in fourth place with a toss of 47-05.75.
The distance medley relay team of Alyssa Brigham, Jackie Pires, Joy Jennifer, and Amanda DiPaolo, finished in sixth with a time of 12:37.79. The 4x400 relay finished in sixth place as well as Lacey Cartier, Sarah Rioux, Nicole Reynolds, and Jenn McBride crossed the finish line in 4:09.97.
