



New Haven, Conn. - February 28, 2009 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team finished third out of three teams in a tri-meet at Southern Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon. Temple won the meet with a score of 188.675, followed by the host Owls with a 187.825, and the Pride rounded out the scoring with a 181.775.Leading the way for Springfield on the day was Jenna Williams, who was the lone member of the Pride to place in the top five of an event. Williams took fifth in the vault with a 9.475.
Other top finishers for the Pride included Jacqueline Mazzola, who recorded a 9.275 on the balance beam to finish seventh, and a 9.425 as she also finished seventh on the vault.
The Pride will now focus on its next upcoming meet, the ECAC Championships on March 7. The top three teams in the competition advance to the NCGA's on March 20.



Cheryl Raymond, who will be entering her 33rd year as women's gymnastics coach and assistant professor of physical education at Springfield College in 2012-2013, is one of the top college coaches in the region. Read more.
