Men's Lacrosse Shoots Down Bates, 18-12

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., March. 29, 2003 – Junior attackman
Paul Purdy (Brewster, N.Y.) totaled five goals and three assists to lead Springfield College to the 18-12 victory over Bates College in men’s lacrosse action this afternoon on Benedum Field.
Freshman attckman
Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.), added four goals and two assists for the Pride (2-3), which broke a three-game losing skid with the win.
SC held a slim, 7-6, halftime lead, before a 7-1 run, led by four Purdy goals, put the Pride up for good, 15-8, with 11:06 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Springfield sophomore attackman
Shawn Cofrin (Londonderry, N.H.) tallied two goals and three assists, while sophomore goalie
P.J. Rovinelli (Framingham, Mass.) made 10 saves to pick up the win. Sophomore
Dan Blinn (Longmeadow, Mass.) also registered a pair of goals in the victory.
The Bobcats (4-6) were led by junior attackman
Brad Frost (Winchester, Mass.) who scored three goals and two assists, while sophomore midfielder
Matt Bognacki (Manhasset, N.Y.) was credited with three goals.
