Support the Doug Parker Challenge
Doug Parker had a lasting effect on all of our lives, and the memories of our wrestling days are some of our best at Springfield College. Those memories are so strong, in fact, that former wrestling alumnus, Alan Nero ’69, H'11, kicked off the Doug Parker Challenge by committing $50,000 to recognize Coach. We seek to raise $200,000 through the Doug Parker Challenge. Any gift you make to the challenge is important and will be greatly appreciated.
We are pleased to announce that we have surpassed our goal, and to date have raised a total of $201,925. If you would like to participate we are still accepting contributions. A total of 25 percent of the overall money raised will go toward improvements to the wrestling facility in the form of a new full sized mat, two score clocks, the addition of the College logo to the room, and a plaque honoring Coach Parker. Any remaining money left over from this percentage will go directly toward the wrestling program endowment, which creates the opportunity for many Springfield College wrestlers to compete in tournaments across the country. Springfield College is one of only four programs in the nation with 900 match wins and these contributions will help the program maintain its tradition of excellence.
We are asking you and all of Coach Parker’s former wrestlers to consider supporting the Doug Parker Challenge. If you decide to support the Doug Parker Challenge, you can make a gift online
, or call Brian Toohey from the Office of Development at (800) 622-6072. Please know that any
gift you make to the Challenge is significant, and we appreciate your willingness to participate.
Each one of us has chosen Springfield College to be our number one charitable interest because we want the College to continue to flourish and give students of tomorrow an even greater opportunity. Many of our teammates are doing the same. We hope you will join us in honoring Coach Parker’s work with a much improved facility that bears his name, assuring that generations of future students will appreciate his influence.
