



Babson Park, Mass. - April 27, 2011 - Senior John Schmaltz was honored for his standout season as he was named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball All-Conference Second Team on Wednesday.A native of Cromwell, Conn., this marks the second straight season that Schmaltz was named to the all-conference second team.
A two-sport athlete who also plays on the football team, Schmaltz has been outstanding this year. He leads the team in batting average (.382), slugging percentage (.431), on-base percentage (.441), hits (47), RBI (17), doubles (6), and total bases (53), while ranking second in runs scored (13).
He started the year off in historical fashion as he recorded a hit in 12 consecutive plate appearances in Arizona, which ranked as the fourth all-time longest streak in NCAA Division III history. His patience at the plate is also evident by the fact that he has only struck out five times in 123 plate appearances, which ranks in the top 50 nationally.
