



Springfield, Mass. - July 22, 2010 - Springfield College Director of Athletics Cathie Schweitzer was selected as the The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) Division III East Administrator of the Year.Under Schweitzer's direction, Springfield College served as host for the 2010 National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships on March 26-27. The successful two-day event culminated with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse winning the Division III team championship for the third consecutive year, while Ursinus's Kira Oldham-Curtis claimed the all-around title.
Schweitzer was named the first female director of athletics at Springfield College on July 17, 2000, and has earned numerous awards since then. In September 2002, she was named the Female Administrator of the Year by the ECAC and Jostens, and in 2005, she was named the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) Administrator of the Year. In the summer of 2007, she was named the AstroTurf Northeast Division III Athletic Director of the Year.
Springfield College has had a long and storied history in women's gymnastics, including winning the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Division III Championships in 1996.



Cheryl Raymond, who will be entering her 33rd year as women's gymnastics coach and assistant professor of physical education at Springfield College in 2012-2013, is one of the top college coaches in the region. Read more.
