SPRINGFIELD Mass., April 5, 2005 – Springfield College freshman Joe Dubuc (South Hadley, Mass.) placed first in the 110-meter hurdles (16.13) and second in the 400-meter hurdles (58.78) to lead the Pride past Westfield State today in Track & Field action at Blake Track.

In the distance events, senior Steve Wilson (West Hartford, Conn.) ran to a first place finish in the 1500-meters (4:19.90), junior Scott Barton (Fort Plain, N.Y.) won the 5000-meters in a time of 16:20.61, and senior Patrick DeRocco (Utica, N.Y.) was victorious in the 800-meters (2:00.91).

In the field events, Pride senior All-American Justin Welch (Woburn, Mass.) won the high jump with a leap of 6 feet,2.75 inches. Leading the Pride in the sprints was junior Chris Keyser (West Newbury, Mass.) who took first in the 100-meter dash (11.29) and second in the 200-meter dash (23.25).

On the women’s side, in a non-scoring meet, junior Yasmin Goris (Worcester, Mass.) ran to victory in the 100 meter dash (12.51) and was second in the 200-meter dash (27.47). SC freshman Kristyn Meade (Raynham, Mass.) won the 800-meters in a time of 2:32.32, while juniorSarah Tyman (Suffield, Conn.) took first place in the 400-meter dash (64.22).

In the throws, Pride junior Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) took first place in the discus throw with a toss of 117 feet, 1 inch. Tess Donoghue of Westfield State was the only double winner of the day as she placed first in the long jump (18-02.5) and the high jump (5-02).

The Springfield College men host Bates on Saturday, April 9 at 1 p.m. at Blake Track while the women travel to Trinity College for the Trinity Invite.
