Lewis and Thompson Named NEWMAC and ECAC Divers of the Week
Boston, Mass. - January 21, 2014 -
Springfield College divers Jack Lewis (Durham, N.H.)
and Jen Thompson (Cheshire, Conn.)
swept the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Diver of the Week honors.
Lewis was chosen the NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Week for the fifth time and the ECAC Diver of the Week for the second time this season, continuing to shine in the diving events for the Pride. The junior swept both the one and three-meter boards in a dual meet at NYU on Saturday. He took first on the one-meter with a national qualifying score of 321.83. On the three-meter board, Lewis was victorious producing a national qualifying mark of 323.10.
For Thompson, it's her third NEWMAC Women’s Diver of the Week selection and her second-straight. She was also named ECAC Diver of the Week for the first time this season. The senior continued her dominance on the boards, sweeping both the one and three-meter. At NYU on Saturday, Thompson took first on the three-meter board with a national-qualifying score of 308.32. On the one-meter board, Thompson totaled a national qualifying score of 279.24.

Diving Coach Peter Avdoulos
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 29th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2013-2014. The current NEWMAC Women's and Men's Diving Coach of the Year, Avdoulos has coached countless All-New England and All-American divers, as well as several National Champions. Read more
