Acciaioli Places First At Trinity Last Chance Meet
NEW HAVEN, Conn.
, March 5, 2005 – Springfield College junior Natasha Landon (Hudson Falls, N.Y.)
surpassed her previous pole-vault school record by clearing 10 feet 10 and three-quarters to earn second place this past weekend at Trinity’s Last Chance Track and Field meet.
SC junior Christina Davis (Orance, Conn.)
captured first place in the weight-throw with a toss of 47-7.75
On the men’s side, senior captain Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.)
placed first and sophomore Alex Kampersal (Natick, Mass.)
took second in the shot-put with distances of 53-5 and 49-1.5, respectively.
SC senior Justin Welch (Woburn, Mass.)
cleared 6-4.75 to place second in the high jump.
Head Coach Ken Klatka
, an associate professor of physical education
at Springfield College, will enter his 38th season as head
coach, and 44th as a coach overall, of the men’s track and field program in 2013-2014. He ranks
among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an
overall record of 447 wins, 156 losses, and two ties for
an impressive .743 winning percentage. In 2011, Klatka was inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame.
