Jenkins Tabbed NEWMAC Player of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – October 22, 2007
– Springfield College senior Eileen Jenkins (Gorham, Maine)
was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference Player of the Week (NEWMAC) in field hockey after she led the Pride to a 2-0 week.
Jenkins paced the Pride to a pair of key conference victories this week as the Pride improved to 14-3, 6-2 this season. On Tuesday, Jenkins tallied a goal and an assist as the No. 14 Pride defeated Mount Holyoke, 4-1.
In a contest between two of the top teams in the league on Saturday, Jenkins' game-winner with 10:29 remaining in the first half helped Springfield knock Wellesley from the unbeaten ranks in conference play.
For the season, the senior forward has 10 goals and four assists.
Jenkins and the Pride return to action on Tuesday evening when they play Plymouth State at Stagg Field. The game is slated for 6:00 p.m.
