Cambridge, Mass. - September 25, 2010 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team finished third at the MIT Invitational on Saturday afternoon after it split a pair of matches with Wellesley and Williams. Senior setter Kelsea Hellyar wrapped up a stellar weekend as she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Pride are now 13-2 on the season as Wellesley snapped SC's seven-match winning streak. The Blue won the match in four sets by the game scores of 19-25, 29-27, 25-22, 25-23. Springfield then rebounded in the consolation match with a 27-25, 25-17, 25-22 win over Williams.
In a back-and-forth battle against its conference-rival, Lauren Torvi had her way against Wellesley as she totaled 19 kills in the loss.
In the victory over Williams, Sarah Lang-Rodean posted 12 kills, while Hellyar handed out 28 assists. Torvi added eight kills, and Cassie Seymour was credited with nine digs.
