



Complete ResultsNorth Dartmouth, Mass. -- September 17, 2011 -- The Springfield College men's cross country team had a good showing at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners Invitational this afternoon, finishing fifth of 34 teams on the 8K course.
MIT led the way with 31 points, followed by Brandeis with 79, Bentley (134), Salisbury (143), Springfield (151), UMass Lowell (180), Coast Guard (192), WPI (254), Babson (281), and Assumption (283).
New England College was next in 11th with 292, followed by Fitchburg State (316), Roger Williams (387), Castleton State (407), Johnson & Wales (458), Bridgewater State (474), Connecticut College (489), RIC (523), Lesley (569), and Holy Cross (576).
Ryan O'Connell and Anthony Salvucci placed 20th and 21st. O'Connell's time was 25:35. Salvucci's time was 25:38.
Brian Fuller was next with a placement of 25th at 25:44.
Zach Pietras had a placement of 39th at 26:07. And David Birdsall had a placement of 46th at 26:25.
Up next will be the Purple Valley Classic in Williamstown Saturday, Sept. 24.
Bryan Brown will enter his second season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2012. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, led Springfield to a second-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships a year ago .
