Competing in her final individual event of her illustrious career, Pennington had a tremendous swim in the prelims, establishing a new school record. She held the previous record, which was a 49.94 that she swam in 2012. The senior entered the event seeded second with a qualifying time of 50.10.
On the three-meter board, Jennifer Thompson (Cheshire, Conn.) qualified for the championship final after a tremendous showing in the prelims. The senior delivered a score of 472.75 to finish third and advance to the evening's championship session.
The Pride's 400 free relay team also swam on Saturday morning and finished 13th in the prelims. The team of Callie Phillips (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.), Nicole Scotto (Southbury, Conn.) and Pennington combined to swim a 3:28.95 and advanced to Saturday evening's consolation finals.The squad was seeded 10th heading into the event with a qualifying time of 3:28.30.
Emily Medieros (Wakefield, Mass.) swam the 200 breast this morning and touched in 2:24.74 to finish 28th in the country in the event.
Additionally, Ashleigh Monore (Southbury, Conn.) registered a time of 17:33.82 in the 1,650 freestyle.
