



Complete ResultsWilliamstown, Mass. - September 26, 2009 - The Springfield College men's cross country team finished sixth in the 8k race at the Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College on Saturday afternoon. Brian Fuller had the top finish for the Pride as he crossed the finish line in 17th place in 26:25.
In the men's 8K race, UMass Lowell took top honors with a team score of 38 points. Williams finished 2nd with 53 points followed by New York University with a score of 75. Middlebury and Boston College rounded out the top five with scores of 83 and 105, respectively, while Springfield ended the race with 158 points.
Right behind Fuller was freshman Zach Pietras, who finished 20th in 26:38, while David Birdsall crossed the finish line in 27:05, good enough for 36th place,
Troy French finished in 46th for Springfield in a time of 27:36 and Jake Brewer rounded out the Pride's scoring with a 51st place-finish in a time of 27:52.
The Pride will be off until it races in the New England Championships on October 10th.
Bryan Brown will enter his second season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2012. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, led Springfield to a second-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships a year ago .
