NEW LONDON, Conn., Jan. 24, 2004 – Springfield College freshman
Julie Ferdella (Leicester, Mass.) won the 55-meter dash in a time of 7.81 as the Pride finished first of five teams in the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday.
SC (232 points) outdistanced Coast Guard (157), NYU (138), Conn. College (63) and Eastern Conn. (49).
SC sophomore
Jessica Zaccaro (Washingtonville, N.Y.) won the 600-meter run with a Division III New England Indoor Championship qualifying time of 1:45.37. SC sophomore
Sarah Tyman (West Suffield, Conn.) was right behind Zaccaro in the race finishing second in 1:45.77.
SC freshman
Natasha Landon (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) placed first in the pole vault tying a school record with a mark of 10 feet, 6 inches. Landon’s vault qualifies her for the Division III New England Indoor Championships, the Open New England Championships and the ECAC Championships.
SC junior
Sarah Martin (Madison, N.H.) won the triple jump event with a personal best effort of 34 feet, 9.5 inches.
The Pride is at Army on Saturday, Jan. 31 with RPI, Binghamton, and Ithaca in West Point, NY.

Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
