Last week, Springfield was ranked 23rd, but thanks to a tremendous showing at the conference duals, the Pride rocketed 12 spots in the rankings. This marks the highest Springfield has been ranked nationally since it was 10th, nearly a year ago to the day, when the Pride was won the 2012 NEWA Dual title.
Individually, Joe Grippi was recognized as the top-ranked wrestler in the country at 141 pounds. Grippi becomes the first Springfield College wrestler to be ranked No. 1 in his weight class since Keith Poloskey was the country's top wrestler at 141 in 2003.
Classmate Derrick Longo also appears in this week's individual rankings as the senior is currently ranked fifth in the nation at 165.
Springfield will host 12th-ranked Wesleyan on Saturday at 3:00 pm in Dana Gymnasium in a rematch of last weekend's NEWA Dual title match.
