BOSTON, Mass. - March 2, 2008 - The Springfield College women's track and field team competed in the Open New England Championships over the weekend and recorded it's best times of the year so far.
The meet, hosted by Boston University, featured some of the top talent in New England from all three divisions of intercollegiate athletics.
Nikki Hay led the way for the Pride as she finished 14th in the long jump with a distance of 16'11.25". The sophomore also finished in eighth place in triple jump with a mark of 37'2.50". That jump was an NCAA Qualifier in that event, her best jump of year, and the second best in SC history for the team.
Kayla Robertson qualified for ECAC 's in triple jump with jump of 35'3.25" taking 15th place overall. Also having a nice showing in the triple jump was Cailtin Breault, who finished in 21st with a jump of 33'3". Kelsey Bishop took 16th place in 20 lb. weight throw with throw of 46'7.25"
The Pride's distance medley relay team of Alyssa Brigham, Hay, Lacey Cartier, and Amanda DiPaulo finished in 11th place with a time of 12:32.48.
Two other relay's for the Pride had solid showings as the 4x400 relay team of Nicole Reynolds, Jenn McBride, Sarah Rioux, and Katie Parente finished in 19th place in 4:07.06. The 4x800 relay finished in 17th place as Cartier, Kristyn Meade, Allison Dalton, and Jacquelyn Pires crossed the finish line in 9:47.29.
Springfield will compete in the ECAC Championships this upcoming weekend.
