Amherst, 4-0, received a total of 176 points and 11 first-place votes. Springfield (5-1) was second with 173 points and six first-place votes. Williams (4-0) was third with 152 points and the remaining two first-place votes. Those three teams have fallen into a 1-2-3 groove the last several weeks.
In fourth place was Maine Maritime (5-1) with 111 points. And in fifth was Plymouth State (6-1) with 109 points.
The second five included Trinity (3-1) with 87 points, Western New England (6-1) with 77 points, Norwich (6-1) with 51 points, Endicott (5-2) with 49 points, and Framingham State (5-2) with 24 points. The only other team to appear on two or more ballots was Wesleyan.
In the national d3football.com Division III poll, Springfield College moved up two notches to 32nd place.
This Saturday, Springfield will travel to Ithaca to take on the Bombers in an Empire 8 contest at 1 pm. Last season, SC and Ithaca tied for third in the league standings.
