Goodwin Named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week for the Third Time This Season

Goodwin Named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week for the Third Time This Season Springfield, Mass. -- November 1, 2010 -- Ken Goodwin of the Springfield College football team has been named the Empire 8 Co-Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Hartwick College in a 39-20 SC victory and for the week ending October 30. It is the third time the senior inside linebacker from Foxboro, Mass. has been so named this season.

Goodwin had an outstanding game leading the Pride to the win over Hartwick. Goodwin recorded a team high 12 tackles, helping to limit the Hawks to only 13 yards rushing. He finished with eight unassisted stops and deflected a pass. He also forced a fumble, recovered a fumble, and picked off a pass, returning that for four yards. He also had a second interception that was returned 60 yards for a touchdown, but which did not count because of a penalty.

Springfield College is now 6-2 overall, 2-2 in conference play.

Goodwin looks to keep his team on the winning track as it takes on St. John Fisher next Saturday November 6th, in Rochester, N.Y. at 12 noon.
