Complete ResultsHartford, Conn. -- September 15, 2011 -- The Springfield College men's tennis team opened its 2011-2012 season with a 7-0 loss to the University of Hartford on the Hartford courts earlier today.
The Hawks swept the doubles, with the No. 3 team of Zac Goldstein and Joe Giannelli doing best for the Pride.
In singles play, Zach O'Leary stretched the match to a third-set super tiebreaker before falling to Josh Isaacson, 6-2, 6-7, 10-5.
Springfield is now 0-1, while Hartford becomes 1-0.
Toby Coffin G’01, enters his third year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
