



Springfield, Mass. - January 11, 2011 - With a winter storm due to hit New England on Wednesday, a pair of Springfield College basketball contests have been postponed. Both squads will square off in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Thursday as the men will travel to take on Wheaton for a 7:00 pm game, while the women will host Coast Guard at 6:00 pm in Blake Arena.The men have been on a roll of late, winning nine of their last 11 games to improve to 9-5 on the season. After a pair of wins against Babson and Coast Guard last week, Springfield stands at 2-0 in league play and is the only team in the NEWMAC with a 2-0 record.
Despite their overall record of 4-9, the Springfield women are tied for third place in the league standings as all four of their victories have come against conference foes. With a 4-2 mark in league play, the Pride will look to continue its success in league play.
Last season, the men defeated Wheaton in both meetings, while the women also bested Coast Guard twice a year ago.
Entering her 23rd season as head coach in 2013-14, Naomi Graves has directed her squads to an impressive 323-260 record (.554 winning percentage) since joining the Division III ranks in 1995. Graves has led the Pride to 12 post-season bids in the past 17 years, including five berths in the NCAA Division III Tournament.
