Men's Track & Field Takes First In Quad-Meet

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 3, 2004 - Springfield College senior
Pawel Jaroszweicz (East Longmeadow, Mass.) took first place in the 400-meter dash (48.06) and tied for first in the 200-meter dash (21.50) as the Pride finished first in a quad-meet this afternoon at Blake Track.
SC compiled 216 total team points in the meet, 10 points ahead of Bates at 206 points. Tufts finished third on the day with 184 points, and the University of Southern Maine finished with 68 points.
SC senior
Brian Pearsall (Fairport, N.Y.) won the 800-meter run in a time of 1:58.68.
In the field events, SC junior
Justin Welch (Woburn, Mass.) won the high jump competition (1.93 meters), junior
Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.) took the shot put competition (15.15 meters), and freshman
Cameron Tuchetti (South Deerfield, Mass.) won the javelin throw (52.01 meters).

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
