No. 12 Field Hockey Shuts Down Amherst College, 2-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 22, 2004 - Springfield College junior midfielder
Meg Bascetta (Granby, Conn.) notched a goal and an assist to lead the No. 12 Pride to a 2-0 shutout of Amherst College this evening in field hockey action on Benedum Field.
After a scoreless first half, SC (6-1) junior midfielder
Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine) got things going by deflecting a Bascetta pass behind Amherst (1-2) goalie K.C. Consentino to put the Pride on the board at the 23:10 mark. Bascetta added her first goal of the season, unassisted, with 13:11 remaining in the contest to lead SC to its sixth win in seven contests this season.
Senior goalkeeper
Lindsey Pardue (Houston, Texas) was credited with four saves to preserve her third shutout of 2004.
The Pride opens the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference portion of its schedule this Saturday, Sept. 25 with an 11:00 a.m. match with visiting Wheaton College.
