SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (August 7, 2007) –Brian Magoffin, an assistant director of athletic communications at Stony Brook University for the past two years, has been named Assistant Director of Sports Communications at Springfield College.
Magoffin returns to Springfield after a two-year stint at Stony Brook University where he was an intern and then an assistant director in the athletic communications office. Along with publicizing the school’s 18 sports, Magoffin led the athletic department’s Web site redesign in 2006 and worked on the Stony Brook Sports Report, a weekly, nationally televised show on CSTV.
At Springfield College, Magoffin’s duties will include all facets of assisting the director in publicizing the College’s 26 varsity sports. His duties will include writing game stories and features, assisting in Web site redesign, creating and editing athletics publications, updating statistics, and serving as an office liaison to the NCAA, ECAC, and all other conferences that Springfield College is associated with, including the NEWMAC, Empire 8 (football), and Pilgrim League (men’s lacrosse) among others.
“Brian received his start in the sports information field right here at Springfield College,” said Steve Raczynski, Director of Sports Communications at the College. “He was a 2005 graduate who earned a degree in Sport Management, was a student worker for two years in the sports communications office at the College, and brings three valuable years of Division I experience to the table. We’re very pleased to have a person of Brian’s caliber return to his alma mater.”
Magoffin also interned at the University of Massachusetts media relations office in the spring of 2005.
Brian is a native of Cheshire, Conn. He will reside in West Springfield.
