Women's Tennis Snags Key 5-4 Conference Win at Clark

Worcester, Mass. - October 9, 2012 - Erin Woodbury won in both her singles and doubles match to help lead the Springfield College women's tennis team to an important 5-4 win over Clark University in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.

Down 2-1 following the doubles matches, the visiting Pride rallied to improve to 5-3. he Cougars now sit at 5-8 overall and 0-4 in league action.

Clark had victories at No. 1 singles where Gaby Suriano defeated Sam Carney 6-4, 6-0, and Sarah Sachs topped Siana Green 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2.

Springfield, however, rolled in the rest of the singles matches, highlighted by Woodbury collecting a 6-4, 6-4 win over Maggie Swann at No. 3 and Sydney Streimer knocking off Phoebe Hughes 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4.

At No. 5, Melanie Thulin had little trouble with Martha Ziemer 6-0, 6-0 and Vanessa Senecal upended Kera Snyder 6-4, 6-4 at No. 6.
