Wrestling Finishes 23rd At NCAA Championships

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Springfield College freshman
Mike Gaeta (Manalapan, N.J.) finished fifth in the 141-pound division to earn All-Amerca honors and lead the Pride to 23rd place at the NCAA Division III Championships in Dubuque, Iowa, Saturday.
Gaeta, who entered the meet ranked eighth at 141 lbs. in the latest Division III rankings, won five matches during the two-day event. He defeated seventh seeded Jeff Patzke from Luther College in the fifth-place match on Saturday with a 12-6 decision.
SC senior
Tom Medonis (Wethersfield, Conn.) and junior
Brian Viglione (Chelmsford, Mass.) also competed at the championships in the 197- and 174-pound weight classes, respectively.

Jason Holder will enter his second season as head wrestling coach in 2012. Holder had a standout first season at the helm of the Pride, leading Springfield to the NEWA Duals Championship and taking three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
