Baseball Falls To Wheaton College, 7-4
NORTON, Mass., April 3, 2005 –The nationally-ranked Wheaton College Lyon’s blasted four homeruns outdistancing Springfield College, 7-4, in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) in baseball action at Sidell Stadium.
Lyon’s Freshman Scott Guillerault smashed a solo shot in the second inning, which snapped Springfield junior
Jon Davis' (Ludlow, Mass) scoreless streak of 20.2 innings. Entering today's game with a 0.00 earned run average through 19 innings, Davis had two combined shutouts with 21 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to seven hits and a microscopic .108 batting average. Davis struckout seven batters with a walk and eight hits allowed.
The Pride’s offensive attack was led by juniors
Adam Tarquini (Fishkill, N.Y.) and
James Miner (Methuen, Mass.) who were both credited with RBI base hits leading to the Pride's four run seventh inning.
Wheaton improves to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while Springfield suffered its fifth straight loss and falls to 5-7 overall and 1-3 in the NEWMAC.
