Box score
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Oct. 4, 2003 – Springfield College junior midfielder
Molly Desroches (Belchertown, Mass.) scored the only goal of the match as the Pride defeated the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), 1-0, in a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match this afternoon at Brock-Affleck Field.
Desroches scored in the 79th minute after MIT goalkeeper Katherine Vater was knocked to the ground. The crossbar foiled the Pride’s first shot on the open net. The rebound, however, landed on Desroches’ foot, and she knocked in the winning goal uncontested.
SC sophomore goalkeeper
Christina Davis (Orange, Conn.) earned a shutout while saving two shots in the match.
With the win, the Pride improves to 5-5-1 overall while the Engineers drop to 6-2-1.
SC will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 7 when its hosts WPI at 4:00 p.m.
