Milano's Three-Run Homer Lifts Baseball Over Dordt, 5-2

Head Coach Mark Simeone Phoenix, Ariz. - March 14, 2012 - Matt Milano crushed a three-run homer with break open a 2-2 ball game in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Springfield College baseball team topped Dordt, 5-2, on Wednesday.

The Pride improved to 4-1 on the season with another gritty win.

Head coach Mark Simeone shook up his lineup today to give several players some rest as the Pride played its sixth game in sixth days.

However, trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Simeone went to his bench and called upon Steve Starr to pinch hit. The first-year didn't disappoint as he roped an RBI double to even the game at two-all.

That set up Milano's heroics in the bottom of the eighth. With two strikes on him, Milano broke open the game with a three-run shot to lift the Pride to its fourth win in five games.

Travis Lane earned the no-decision as he gave up two runs in the starting role on the mound. Jon Medici was credited with the win in relief.
