WALTHAM, Mass., October 18, 2006 – Springfield College junior goalie Ryan Driscoll (Wilmington, Del.) posted three saves in the tough 3-0 loss to the Judges of Brandeis University. In tonight’s non-conference match-up, Brandeis struck first in the 24th minute of the game and never relinquished its lead.
Springfield allowed one first-half goal to junior Brett Fitzgerald when he converted on a penalty kick at the 23:50 mark. In the second half, the Judges netted two goals. Senior Yuval Ezer scored on a pass from Ben Premo (58:54). Mike Snyder found the net only 12 minutes later on a pass from Billy Murphy (70:36).
The Pride had multiple offensive opportunities, outshooting the Judges, 17-13, and holding a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks. But the Pride’s inability to find the back of the net continued, as Springfield College was shutout for the eighth time year.
With tonight’s non-conference loss, Springfield College drops to a 4-10-2 overall mark. Brandeis University improves to a 7-5-3 overall and recorded its first back-to-back win of the season.
Springfield’s next match-up is on Saturday, September 21st, at MIT at 11:30 a.m. The match will complete the squad’s New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular-season schedule. The team’s season-finale will be on Wednesday September 25th, at 7:00 p.m. at Western Connecticut State University. (WCSU).
