



Williamstown, Mass. – November 13, 2010 – The Springfield College women’s cross country team ran well at the NCAA Division III New England Qualifier this afternoon. The Pride women finished 16th out of 51 participating teams. Lacey Cartier was the Pride's top finished in 23:48.6.Middlebury College won the team event with 58 points overall. The hosts from Williams College finished second with 91 points, and were followed by Amherst (103), MIT (105), and Colby (157) to round out the top five.
Cartier was the Pride’s top finisher yet again, completing the 6K course in 23:48.6, good for 47th place overall. Cartier was followed by junior Michelle Mirti, who finished in 78th place with a time of 24:33.4. Others that ran well for the Pride were freshman Erica Fisher in 25:24.7 and Molly Parshley in 25:43.2.
Jim Pennington enters his 28th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2011-2012. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
