



Griffin picked up 2008 Academic All-America District I First Team honors in the college division.
A native of Scarborough, Maine, Griffin had an outstanding year both academically and athletically at Springfield. He earned All-New England honors in the fall after finishing 8th out of 330 runners, thus qualifying for the NCAA Championships. A two-time NEWMAC All-Academic honoree, he was also named Springfield College's Junior Male Individual Athlete of the Year. He was also selected as an All-New England performer in track, as his time in the 800 meters (1:54.04), is the second-fastest time in school history. Griffin owns a 3.72 GPA while majoring in Physician's Assistant.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
