Springfield currently owns a 19-8 record, its best mark since the 2005 squad went 22-7, and earned one of 19 at-large bids from across the country. As the team gathered to watch the selection show, it was a tense and anxious environment, with 54 of the 62 participating schools being announced before the Pride.
For head coach Charlie Brock, now in his 15th season at Springfield, this marks the third time that he has led the Pride to the NCAA Championship. Springfield advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2000 and reached the second round in 2005.
The Pride's resume is an impressive one, as it picked up four wins against regionally-ranked teams, all of which who were at one time ranked in the top five in the D3Hoops.com national poll.
Ithaca also owns a 19-8 record and earned an automatic qualifier to the NCAA's after knocking off top-seed Stevens in the championship game of the Empire 8 Conference Tournament.
Ticket prices for the game will be $6 for an adult, $3 for seniors and students, and $2 for Springfield College students.
