Pocius Named NACGC/W Division III East Gymnast of the Year

Lauren Pocius DeKalb, Illi. - April 8, 2014 - After finishing the 2013-2014 season a two-time All-American in the all-around competition and on the uneven bars, junior gymnast Lauren Pocius (Wallingford, Conn.) was recently named National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women Division III East Gymnast of the Year.

At the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championships at Ithaca College, Pocius finished 9th overall in the all-around competition with a score of 37.050, earning the first All-America honor of her career. The junior joined rare company in the program's storied history, becoming just the seventh Springfield College women's gymnast to earn All-America honors in the all-around.

On Saturday, March 22, Pocius finished fourth overall on the uneven bars with a score of 9.675, earning All-America honors. On Friday, Pocius shattered her own school record on the uneven bars when she posted a 9.775 in the event.

Pocius became the first All-American on the bars for the Pride since Kristen Fairburn and Audrey Lastra both earned the honor in 2007.
