



SPRINGFIELD, Mass., January 11, 2006 - Springfield College senior tri-captain Emily Phillips (North Windham, Conn.) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Swimmer of the Week for January 9, 2006 in an announcement made by the conference’s office.
Phillips, a resident of North Windham, Conn., won the 100 (54.90) and 200 (2:00.34) freestyle events in SC’s tri-meet at Union College this past weekend (Jan. 7) in Schenectady, N.Y. Phillips was also the final leg on the Pride’s winning 400 freestyle relay squad, which finished in a time of 3:46.08.
SC swept the tri-meet with Union and Hartwick, improving its overall record to 4-4 on the season. The Pride defeated Union, 145-97, and downed Hartwick College by a 180-63 margin.
SC’s women’s swimming and diving team will host Smith College in a meet on Wednesday afternoon, January 11, in a 3:30 p.m. start at the Art Linkletter Natatorium. SC’s men’s and women’s teams will then travel to NYU for a meet on Saturday afternoon, January 14, in a 1:00 p.m. start.
