No. 10 Field Hockey Sneaks Past Plymouth State, 3-2, In Overtime

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 13, 2003 – Springfield College junior back
Kim Stevens (North Knox, Maine) scored off a penalty corner 2:56 into the first overtime period to give the Pride a 3-2 win over Plymouth State University this afternoon at Benedum Field.

Melanie Bates (Derry, N.H.) opened the scoring with a goal a mere 2:32 into the game. SC junior midfielder
Lydia Grant (Granby, Conn.) tied the game when she netted a goal with 10:17 left in the opening frame.
The Pride got on the board first in the second half when junior midfielder
Jen Durgin (Gorham, Maine) scored her first goal of the season with 31:57 left. The Panthers knotted the score 2-2 when freshman midfielder
Shannon Santamaria (Northfield, N.H.) scored off a pass from sophomore forward
Lilly Silva (Lowell, Mass.) with 8:44 remaining in the game.
Stevens’ goal was assisted by Durgin and senior back
Maylese Leyva (Harwich, Mass.).
The Pride improve to 3-1 on the season while the Panthers move to 0-2 on the fall.
