Men's Tennis Snaps Three-Match Skid With 5-4 Win At UMass Dartmouth

Dartmouth, Mass. - April 9, 2013 - The Springfield College men's tennis team snapped its three-match slide on Tuesday afternoon after picking up a 5-4 victory at UMass Dartmouth in non-conference action.

Springfield improve to 7-6 win the victory.

The Pride opened up the afternoon picking up victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Kyle Mersereau and Ben Burnap grinded out a 9-8 (7-5) win at the top spot, while Alex Orban and Joe Giannelli added an 8-5 win at No. 2.

Mersereau continued his strong play in singles play, cruising to a 6-3, 6-1 in at No. 1 singles, and Burnap registered a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles. Orban produced Springfield's third victories in singles play at No. 4 after registering a 6-0, 6-3 victory.

The Pride will resume New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday morning when it clashes with Clark at 11:00 am.
