



Complete ResultsDelaware, Ohio - May 26, 2011 - Junior Kelly Curtis competed in the opening day of the heptathlon at the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday afternoon. After four events, Curtis is in second place with 2967 points.
Ithaca College's Emma Dewart is in first place with 3,079 points and holds a 112 point lead on Curtis in second. Curtis leads Janey Helland of Gustavus Adolphus by 93 points as she sits in third in the 22-person field.
The Princeton, N.J. native started off the day with a fourth-place finish in the 100 meter hurdles as she crossed the finish line in 14.96. In the high jump, the junior tied for fourth place with a height of 1.60m (5-03.00), before taking fifth in the shot after recording a mark of 11.12m (36-05.75) on her final heave. In her final event of the day, Curtis clocked in at 26.18 in the 200 meter dash to place ninth.
Curtis will be in action again on Friday starting at 11:00 am when she competes in the javelin, long jump, and 800 meters.
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
