



Centerville, Mass. -- January 11, 2012 -- Sean Meagher, an offensive tackle from Springfield College, has been named a First Team ECAC North All-Star, adding to his growing list of awards compiled during the 2011 season.The ECAC award was Meagher's latest.
A native of Cape Elizabeth, Me., Meagher helped lead the Springfield College football team to a 6-4 overall record and a 4-3 Empire 8 mark.
Meagher's accolades this past fall include the Howard Resnick Coaches Award, bestowed to him at the SC Football team banquet on December 16. Sean was also named:
--New England Football Writers Association All-New England Division II/III First Team,
--All-Empire 8 First Team;
--to the D3 Senior Classic in Salem, Va. Dec. 9 (Sean's North Team defeated the South, 27-14);
--BSN Football All-American Third Team.
A 6-2, 245-pound Applied Exercise Science major, Meagher was most instrumental in leading Springfield to a national team title in rushing offense (Division III). SC averaged a nation's best 400.6 yards rushing per game.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 31st season as a head football coach in the fall of 2012. He enters his 29th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980. Read more.
