



Bristol, R.I. - March 10, 2011 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team was one of 12 teams from across New England to earn the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Academic Team Award. Teams achieved the award by attaining a team-average of at least a 3.30 GPA during the fall semester.The NEWVA Academic Team Award was established in 2008 to recognize the hard work and dedication of the teams’ student-athletes off the court and in the classroom.
Of the 12 teams, five teams participated in the NCAA Division III Tournament this fall. As a team, Springfield reached the NCAA Regional Final, the farthest a team from New England advanced in the national tournament.

Moira Long will enter her second season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2012. Long wasted little time putting her stamp on the program, taking the Pride to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 2011.
